Kenneth “KB” Bowe, creator and Chief Chillologist™, is founder of http://chatnchill.com and publisher of “Your Chillatude Adjustment”. Known for his social hub and legendary chill spot, Chat ‘N’ Chill®, Kenneth, a native Exumian and self professed beach bum, in 1998, created a secluded oasis of a FUN day of relaxation, adventure and entertainment on his own private peninsula in paradise of 9 acres with over 1500 feet of pristine white sand beachfront on Stocking Island. Chat ‘N’ Chill® is the natural setting for a private island, pre-nuptial beach party or destination wedding. KB says “I have always aimed provide ‘Knock Your Sandals Off Service’, where shoes are never required; it’s been our motto since the very beginning: ‘No Shoes, Kick Back, Just Relax’“.

Featured as one of the “Ultimate Beach Bars” in February 2009, Caribbean Travel & Life Magazine says Chat ‘N’ Chill® is a “successful-from-the-start beach bar that still manages not to feel contrived. Ken ‘KB’ Bowe chose an ideal spot on Stocking Island – a beach-encrusted jewel just off Great Exuma – and built a bar/restaurant that excels at all the essentials. You can only get there by boat (which only helps the away-from-it-all ambiance).”

Not your average Bahamian menu, KB focuses on healthy fare. Since the very beginning, everything on the menu is grilled except the French Fries to satisfy today’s health conscious (and rightfully so) customer. KB’s mission is to provide quality food that represents a “taste of the island”, give courteous, reliable and prompt service in a natural setting that is like no other experience of The Exumas and Cays. Regardless of weather conditions, Chat ‘N’ Chill® is open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM, 363 days a year, except Christmas day and Good Friday.

While known for his popular hot spot for relaxing and fun, KB is not your average beach bum either. He was born into an old established Exumian family that were merchants and held large land holdings who settled in The Exuma Islands in 1765. KB attended primary school at Roker’s Point Elementary on the island (Great Exuma) before moving on to Nassau where he attended St. Augustine Preparatory College, a private all boys’ (at the time) Catholic high school. While KB remembers that discipline was the order of the day, he also excelled in athletics and was a national track champion in The Bahamas.

While college and graduate schools took KB abroad to Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and the University Of Chicago Graduate School of Business respectively, with degrees in Mathematics and Economics undergrad and an MBA in Finance, even as KB worked as an Economist for a major bank in Chicago where he gained work experience in international capital markets, he dreamed of returning to his simple island life. After seven years in corporate America, he decided to quit banking to see and experience the world. It was during this time, that his travels to Asia to quaint beach bars on stilts drew Kenneth’s attention because they were simple and laid back. In 1980, he purchased land on Stocking Island to be home to the future Chat ‘N’ Chill®. In 1997 with all of his ideas in action, he built the Chat ‘N’ Chill® and opened on March 12, 1998.

KB decided to retire from the 9-5 grind and corporate banking life to pursue his dreams of building an “international playground” for free-spirits, retirees and escapees of the The Corporate World. Immediately, Chat ‘N’ Chill® became a hit with the boating and cruising community. The Chat ‘N’ Chill® became “THE MEETING PLACE” as well as the activity venue for volleyball, card games, beach golf, and beach church, along with various other events and competitions for the annual George Town Cruising Regatta. Chat ‘N’ Chill® became known as the “day camp” for retired {or semi-retired} adults {and of course, their families too:-}. Every day, you can find KB in his office relaxing on an Adirondack chair under the shady Casuarina tree, and willing to discuss any global economics, history or politics issue with you (not required, but only as a bonus for those that just cannot disconnect entirely from the grid!!)

KB says that Chat ‘N’ Chill® is no “walk on the beach” and is definitely not an “overnight” success. Although it may look as though KB is kicked back and relaxed while personally greeting his many guests, there are many obstacles daily that KB has had to overcome in order to successfully deliver a dependable and consistent product. While Chat ‘N Chill® supports local businesses for most all of his food and beverage supplies, it requires a regular process of transporting them from George Town to Stocking Island via boat and hands-on-the sands to get it to the bar. On Stocking Island, everything is run by self-powered generator for electricity, water and ice makers, etc…there are no public services! Until 2012, there was no phone or Internet, however, KB does not view these as problems, but as challenges and opportunities. KB finds the challenge a positive experience in the pure pleasure of delivering his vision of giving an authentically Bahamian out island experience to each and every visitor to The Exumas and The Bahama Islands!

Today, KB is married to Kwanza Clay Bowe, a Certified Wedding Specialist and Certified Travel Counselor, known as The Exuma Destination Wedding Expert™.  Together they have had the pleasure to plan and organize numerous special events at Chat ‘N’ Chill® for such globally known companies as Sunseeker Yachts, Vocus, Charles Schwab, Siemens, Hormel, The Orange Bowl Committee and the Miss Universe Pageant Beach Party in 2010. Additionally, they have hosted hundreds more private clients for birthdays, reunions, anniversary celebrations and destination weddings.  Chat ‘N’ Chill® has been featured on the cover of Martha Stewart® Weddings Destination & Dream Honeymoons. Their weddings and event venues have also been featured in publications including Cosmo Bride, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Conde Nast Traveler, Caribbean Travel & Life, and Islands Magazine among many others.

KB lives on Great Exuma with his wife, Kwanza, and their son, KB, Jr. and daughter, Kinaya and KB has three adult children, twin boys, Darron and Dr. Dane, plus a daughter, Krysti, who live in Nassau.
