Kwanza, The Wedding Planner
“Life’s too short so live it up, nobody gets out alive anyway.” –Anonymous
Kwanza is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the Chat ‘N’ Chill® brand across all of the company’s business segments: weddings, special events, merchandising, and internet/direct commerce. Kwanza has been actively involved with Chat ‘N’ Chill® since 2000 when she started the website as a friendly gesture for her friend, KB.
Kwanza always dreamt of having a destination wedding one day; however she never knew that her future husband would actually own the perfect island destination in
paradise. When KB proposed to Kwanza, she couldn’t think of a better place to have her dream wedding than on their very own private beach on Stocking Island in The Exuma Islands. At the time there were no wedding consultants offering extensive planning services for Exuma wedding locations. So Kwanza planned every detail of their wedding from away. Kwanza and KB were married in 2003. The very next year, Kwanza enrolled in a professional wedding planning program, Weddings Beautiful Worldwide, and earned her Certified Wedding Specialist designation.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Kwanza earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (cum laude) in 1992 from Spelman College. Kwanza Clay Bowe has more than 20 years experience in planning travel and group events. After being married at beautiful Stocking Island’s Chat ‘N’ Chill to KB,
she transferred her passion of creating memorable experiences for people
to creating private island weddings for guests desiring to have a destination
wedding in The Exumas and The Exuma Cays.
Kwanza is a Certified Wedding Specialist by Weddings Beautiful Worldwide, a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) by The Travel Institute and an Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC) by The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). She is a Sandals Certified Specialist, and has completed the Bahamahost Program and the Bahamas Destination Specialist courses through The Islands of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism department.
Kwanza is an enthusiastic supporter of her community through her involvement and sponsorship of various local events. Kwanza is a lifetime member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, initiated the formation of the South Florida Chapter of NAASC and served as its very first president. Kwanza is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. When Kwanza is not planning private island weddings and events for her clients or entertaining their guests at Chat ‘N’ Chill®, you can find her indulging in one of her many personal interests: spending time with family, walking, Pilates, yoga, reading, designing new merchandise, healthy cooking and eating, entertaining friends, listening to jazz music, traveling, meeting new people, experiencing other cultures or just relaxing on the beach. Kwanza lives on the island of Great Exuma with her husband KB and their son and daughter.
