Things to Do on Stocking Island

Chat ‘N’ Chill® is located on beautiful Stocking Island in the Exumas. Three miles long with only a few year-round residents, it’s a playground of natural wonder for you to explore.

Jacques Cousteau Mystery Cave

World-renowned explorer Jacques Cousteau was fascinated by this natural underwater cave and wanted to know how far it extended. To find out, he deposited red food dye in the cave during the outgoing tide and went up in his helicopter to see where the dye came out. He was shocked to discover that the red dye emerged 2 miles out to sea!

The Jacques Cousteau Mystery Cave is accessible with a quick 2-minute boat ride from Chat ‘N’ Chill®. The mouth of the cave is an excellent spot for snorkeling, as it is teeming with various species of fish.

Stromatolites & Sand Dunes

Stocking Island boasts the some of the world’s oldest fossils – stromatolites – fossilized bacteria dating from more than 1 million years ago. Stromatolites are found in only two places on Earth – here and Australia. Visiting Stocking Island is your chance to get up close and personal with these rare pieces of history, right there in their natural habitat instead of a museum!

There are also gorgeous sand dunes near the stromatolites on the Atlantic side of the island. It’s an easy walk from Chat ‘N’ Chill®. Just walk around Gaviota Bay at low tide, then wade across the channel to the Atlantic side of the island.

Nature Trails

Peaceful, scenic walking paths crisscross the island with benches and identification markers of our local plant life. You can obtain a Stocking Island Nature Trail Map in the in the gift shop for free at Chat ‘N’ Chill®.

A Unique, Chill Experience

quotationreview-ratingWe always have a great time at Chat N Chill, its just fun hanging out there and is a great spot for photographs. We rented a boat from Minns to get there but the water taxis are an easy and fairly inexpensive way to get there too.

quotationreview-ratingThere are just some places that you visit and say "wow, what a cool place!" That was my experience. We had burgers for lunch which were fine, but the atmosphere was incredible. A classic Caribbean beach bar...

quotationreview-ratingWe stopped at the Chat 'N' Chill on our Stocking Island trip. I tried the conch for the first time and I really liked it. The bar was full as expected but the beach was nice and people were having a great time. Feeding the stingrays was cool and I enjoyed our stop.
